Kan-I Moment: Charice Pempengco

Charice Pempengco:

Charice Pempengco's dream of becoming a singer began halfway around the world in the filippines. When Charice was just 4 years old, her mom discovered her talent for the first time. "She thought the radio was playing," Charice says. "She went to the living room, and Charice entered a singing contest. "Some people were saying that I'm not good enough and I'm not pretty," she says. "I just wanted to prove that they're wrong."
When Charice first decided to enter competitions, her mother was working 16 hours a day, six days a week at a garment factory. Charice signed up for more than 80 contests to help support her family. "I really wanted to help my Mom," she says. After years of struggling financially, even being homeless, Charice has been able to use her contest winnings to help her mother pay for an apartment in a nice neighborhood.

When Charice appeared on Oprah on May 12th 2008, Oprah was so impressed and touched by this then 14 year old’s performance that she reached out to call the legendary David Foster and told him he needed to do something for her. The wheels began turning very quickly for little Charice. This little girl had no idea of what was about to happen to her, but in a short-term all of her dreams are coming true at a rapid pace. If you haven’t already heard Charice sing, you must. She has a voice that could compete with Whitney, Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli and all of the top singers of the world and she is only 16 years old. She also already sang with Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. Oh and don’t let me forget to mention she was discovered on YouTube. Just think without the internet, the world would have never found this treasure.

Nowadays the doors to international fame has been opened to Charice.

One of the things I love most about Charice is that no matter what obstacles she’s faced in her life, she never gave up on her dream of something better.

In the video below you can see Charice singing her new song ''Note to God''

Kan-I Moment: Lauren Luke

Lauren Luke: "Since I was a little girl I always wanted to dress up and wear pretty things. I wanted to make people happy, smile and laugh.

But, things were tough in school and I didn't exactly fit in. I started to experiment with makeup to make myself feel better. I was drawn to makeup because I was in love with colour and all things vibrant. While it didn't do much for helping me to fit in, it did start my love affair with this magical thing called makeup.

I learned how to recreate the looks I was seeing on celebrities and just on girls on the street. I heard about a video sharing website called YouTube and realized it would be really easy for me to start showing people what I was learning.

What happened next was something I never ever imagined. I uploaded my first video Sunday 22nd of July 2007 and the minute it went live I sat scared, trembling in my chair, wondering "will people see it" and "what will they say"? Well all I can say is on that day I must have been the luckiest girl alive because I was soon flooded with huge amounts of views and comments, and best of all, I felt like I was making a connection with other girls out there like me, regular girls.

After finishing a makeup tutorial video, I have the best feeling ever. My most memorable parts throughout the past two years have been hearing from the people who I have spoken to and inspired.

I always dreamed of having my own makeup line where I could develop products that made people feel special - that I myself would be over the moon to wear. The excitement that comes from makeup is something very personal. We all have our own reasons for being so excited by it, mine is definitely because of the colour and the fact it can bring out the best in everyone. We are all doing the same thing with makeup but with our own personal edge.

I went into this with something very specific in mind - a great product that works, at an affordable price that will help you embrace color and experiment more.

My hope is that you will be waiting at the letterbox for your package about to chew the postman's hand off with excitement just like I always am.

In 1998 the world got to know Britney Spears with her world hit single ‘Baby one more time’. She scored hit after hit and critics even compared her to the queen of Pop herself, Madonna. Britney seemed unstoppable. This was until her divorce from Kevin Federline. When she shaved her head everybody was shocked. What was she thinking? Britney became the headline of all the gossip magazines and we saw her crumble right in front of our eyes.

Britney proved to be stronger. With her new album Bitney is back and it’s already a hit. Britney has been through some rough times and is still battling but she doesn’t give up. A true story of courage.

Kan-I Moment: Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys is a famous R&B singer that got her breakthrough in 2001. Keys never thought all this success was possible. Her busy lifestyle and the death of a family member pushed her very close to a breaking point. Keys needed some time for herself and she decided to head to Egypt for a month. There she had some time to think and to reevaluate her life.

Her time in Egypt was also a source of inspiration for her latest album ‘As I Am’. "I knew I needed time away, so I went to Egypt for a month -- on my own, which gave it a whole different perspective," she told Reuters in an interview."It allowed me to see things I'd never seen before -- all the temples on the Nile, the Pyramids, the history. It was so rich and beautiful and strong, and it inspired me so much, and renewed me." Alicia Keys troubled times made her stronger and lead her to big success. "I've come more into my own, and really, with experience comes confidence and a little bit more of awareness of how I would like to do it, having learned from the past."

Kan-I Moment: Beyonce

Beyonce is a famous R&B singer who has been successful as a solo artist since 2003. Beyonce’s beauty is undeniable and she has the confidence to go with it. This hasn’t always been the case.

In grade school, Beyoncé's classmates taunted her about her ears. "I used to get teased because they were bigger than my head," she told PEOPLE. She also used to get teased about her unique name and for having a lighter skin than her classmates.

Beyonce is often called Bee by her family and friends. The R&B star’s name comes from her mother’s maiden namen. Over the years she has grown to love her unique name, but when she was young Beyonce was often teased about it.

Like many girls Beyonce was insecure about her looks but over the years she has grown to love herself. Beyonce introduced the word ‘Bootylicious’ which is about feeling beautiful and glamorous in one's own skin and has inspired other women to embrace their curves. Check out how to Get her Look
